A men's suit is one of the most important and most expensive item in any man's wardrobe. That is why most men would want to have their suits in perfect condition for a long time. However, this is only possible if one takes proper care of them. It doesn't matter if you have a branded and very expensive suit, it will never last for years if you don't know how to take care of it. That is why here are some tips on how to care for those men's suits in your closet that hopefully you can use for more years to come.
- Avoid stuffing your suits pockets with coins, keys and other items that may cause stain when not removed before washing. These items can also put strain on the suit's seam that may end up ripping. If you can't avoid this, always remember that you take everything out of the pockets before throwing them to the hamper.
- Don't forget to unbutton your suit jacket when sitting down to avoid pulling on it. You should also avoid stretching of the suit fabric on your pants or trousers by pulling them up a little when sitting. Aside from keeping your clothes from damages, this will also make you more comfortable when wearing them.
- Brush your suit after taking them off. This will keep your suit clean.
- Always use hangers when storing your suits. If possible, use hangers that are specially made for suits. Always do this when the suit in not in use.
- If not in use, keep your men's suits in breathable yet safe garment bags. You should also avoid cramming them in between many clothes to avoid wrinkles.
- Though you want your men's suit clean all the time, you should avoid taking them to the dry cleaners too often. Do this only when necessary. It is advisable to just dry clean them at least once per season so that they can last longer. When dry cleaning, press or steam the suit. Spot clean if necessary.
Following these tips will not only make your suits last longer, but look better when wearing them. And lastly, you'll be able to save lots of money from having the repaired and replace if they got damaged.
